In Case of a Bird Emergency...
Did you find a bird you believe to be injured, distressed, or orphaned? Don't panic, we're here to help! Below are a few steps you can follow to help out.
STEP 1: IDENTIFY BIRD/INJURY
What is it about the bird that seems injured? Is it a baby or an adult?
STEP 2: APPROACH THE BIRD
Are you able to get within 5-10 feet of the bird without it flying away? If the bird does fly away, how far/well can it fly? Birds that are flighted can typically be incredibly difficult to catch.
STEP 3: CONTAIN THE BIRD
If you feel comfortable, you can throw a towel over the bird & place it in a container. If not, please keep an eye on it until a Team Wild Bird member arrives.
STEP 4: TRANSPORT TO MISSION WILD BIRD AT MM 92
We have a very small staff with a large amount of patients to care for. If you are able to bring the bird to our hospital, it truly makes a difference.
